DALSA to Present on “Hyperspectral and Multispectral Image Sensors for Remote Sensing” at the SPIE International Symposium

WATERLOO, Ontario – Sept. 20, 2010 – DALSA Corporation [TSX: DSA], a global leader in digital imaging, will present a paper onHyperspectral and Multispectral Sensors for Remote Sensingat the Sensors, Systems and Next-Generation Satellites conference, which is part of the SPIE International Symposium, Remote Sensing Europe. The conference will be held 20-23 September 2010 in Toulouse, France. DALSA will also showcase its advanced remote sensing technology featuring multispectral and TDI sensors as well as its camera technology at the SPIE Security + Defence Exhibition, in booth #403. SPIE is the international society for optics and photonics founded to advance light-based technologies; the two SPIE events are co-located at the Centre de Congrès Pierre Baudis.

Cees Draijer, Ph.D. will present at the conference. Draijer is a senior program manager at DALSA’s Digital Imaging business unit. The presentation will cover the challenges of developing high-end multispectral detectors and deals specifically with the integrated color filters that are required to obtain a multispectral detector. It is scheduled for Wednesday, 22 September at 11.40 in the ARIANE 1 Room at the Centre de Congrès Pierre Baudis in Toulouse, France

DALSA will showcase its advanced imaging technology for applications such as:

  • Security – DALSA offers high speed, high resolution cameras and image processing software to support high priority security applications such as border and gate surveillance, under vehicle Inspection, face recognition, as well as search and rescue and firefighting applications. In addition to the current camera products that allow for high quality imaging in several security applications in the visible and NIR spectrum, DALSA can provide camera and turnkey imaging system solutions based on SWIR, MWIR and LWIR detectors.
  • Defense – DALSA’s extensive expertise in developing advanced images sensors for mission critical applications make us the ideal single source supplier for (near) infrared camera technology for night vision, detection, recognition and identification of friends and foes. The NIR, SWIR, MWIR and LWIR camera solutions provide visibility in lowlight, bad weather conditions as well as providing visibility through smoke and camouflage.
  • Aerospace –DALSA’s multispectral and hyperspectral sensors obtain the highest quality imaging data possible for applications in remote sensing and reconnaissance. DALSA’s multispectral detectors build on a rich history in line scan and TDI devices which provide maximum signal to noise ratios and sensitivity. New technologies in multispectral filters allow DALSA to provide detector solutions with multiple color bands in the visible and NIR range in a single highly compact and cost effective package. In addition to multispectral detectors, DALSA offers hyperspectral detectors, typically 2D CCD or CMOS arrays sampling a higher number of more narrow bands. Combined with DALSA’s new custom back side thinning (BST) process, very high quantum efficiencies can be achieved, allowing for high accuracy environmental measurements.
