PRESS RELEASE: Teledyne DALSA adds Camera Link Interface to Piranha3 16k CMOS Camera

WATERLOO, Ontario - September 22, 2011 - Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies company and a global leader in machine vision technology, announced today a Camera Link® version of its industry-leading Piranha3™ 16k CMOS line scan camera, allowing it to interface with the Camera Link standard serial communication protocol designed for point-to-point automated vision applications. The Piranha3 high-speed model features 16k resolution with a 3.5 micrometer pixel size and a 40 kHz line rate for ultra-fast 680 Mpixels/s data rate.

With Teledyne DALSA's CMOS technology providing on-chip ADC (Analog to Digital Conversion) and CDS (Correlated Double Sampling), the Piranha3 16k camera delivers unprecedented speed with low noise and high dynamic range. It is ideally suited for the inspection of large area flat-panel displays and printed circuit boards, along with high performance document scanning and other high throughput web applications.

"The Piranha3 16k meets customers' demands for higher resolutions and speeds," said Teledyne DALSA Senior Product Manager Xing-Fei He. "Our customers now have the option of Piranha3 16k cameras with either an HSLink or Camera Link interface depending on their needs."

Key Features and Benefits

  • High resolution,16,384 pixels with 3.5 x 3.5 micrometer pixel size
  • Teledyne DALSA's own CMOS image sensor technology
  • High speed, 40 kHz line rate for 680 MPixels/s throughput
