DALSA Announces Collaboration with Ascent Media Group for Digital Post Production of 4K Motion Picture Content from Origin Cinema Camera

Waterloo, Ontario, March 23, 2006 - DALSA Corporation (TSX:DSA), an international high performance semiconductor and electronics company, today announced a collaboration with Ascent Media Group (AMG) of Santa Monica, California, one of the world's largest independent post production and content delivery companies. The collaboration will enable reliable, cost effective post production of digital 4K motion picture content originating from the DALSA Origin, the world's first and only commercially available 4K digital cinematography camera.

AMG's Media Management Services will act as a strategic service provider for clients shooting their productions with the 4K Origin camera, offering a complete slate of 4K post production and content delivery services. The collaboration will leverage Ascent's investment in its recently completed 100,000 square foot Digital Media Data Center (DMDC), the industry's largest, most technologically advanced independent digital post-production network and distribution facility. The DMDC features Ascent's highly secure, high bandwidth network, "ProdNET", which can process huge amounts of 4K image data using file-based workflow and parallel processes, as well as share data from multiple international locations. Ascent's system, which can scale to over a petabyte (one thousand terabytes) in storage as demand increases, is designed to dramatically speed up the client's time to market, reduce the risk of piracy, and enhance more profitable revenue streams.

"We're looking forward to applying our 4K post production processes to client projects captured with the Origin camera. We've successfully completed quite a number of tests in just about every aspect of our post production workflow and are now in the final stages of qualification and optimization," said Kevin Sanders, chief technical officer of Media Management Services for Ascent Media Group. "DALSA has been a great company to work with to collaborate on this type of digital technology. Ascent brings to the table knowledge and expertise in production and post production workflows. DALSA brings experience and knowledge in image acquisition of 4K material. Together we've been able to expedite the development of a technology that would normally take much longer to bring to market. Because of the cooperation the two companies have extended each other, we'll end up with a better product and suite of supporting services much faster than either company could have done independently."

"Partnering with one of the world's largest digital post production and content delivery companies will help accelerate the adoption of our Origin camera," said Savvas Chamberlain, CEO of DALSA Corporation. "Ascent's investment in a highly scalable, high bandwidth network means that they/we will be able to support productions, large and small, both here in North America and around the world. Digital 4K post production is clearly entering its next stage of development, in terms of availability, reliability and cost effectiveness. Now that Origin cameras are being used successfully in the field and DALSA is gaining strong brand recognition in the industry, this is a particularly exciting new positive inflection point for us."
