Teledyne DALSA Wins Netherlands-Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Business of the Year Award

WATERLOO, Ontario – November 21, 2012 - Teledyne DALSA, a Teledyne Technologies company and a global leader in high performance digital imaging and semiconductors, is proud to have been honored as Business of the Year by the Netherlands-Canadian Chamber of Commerce (NCCC). The award was presented by His Excellency Mr. James Lambert, Canada’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, at a ceremony held November 14 in The Hague.

The NCCC’s annual award is presented to Canadian companies with a subsidiary in the Netherlands or to Dutch companies active in Canada, judged on their contributions to Dutch-Canadian business development and both national economies. Previous winners include CAE, Fugro, Hendrix Genetics, CN Worldwide, Mammoet Holding BV, and Royal Dutch Shell.

In presenting this year’s award, the selection committee noted Teledyne DALSA’s 20+ year history of doing business in the Netherlands, both as customer and supplier, as well as the success of Teledyne DALSA’s Netherlands-based Professional Imaging division. Located in the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, which has been called “the smartest square kilometer in Europe” by Fortune magazine, the division has become a world leader in large format image sensors and medical x-ray detectors.

Cultural compatibility and close collaboration between Dutch and Canadian groups within Teledyne DALSA have been fundamental to their success; constant interaction between the engineers in Eindhoven and their counterparts in Montreal and Bromont, Quebec, and Waterloo, Ontario, has produced a string of innovations that are key to the company’s future success. In addition, many Teledyne DALSA products designed in Eindhoven are fabricated in the company’s semiconductor plant in Bromont, Quebec, or electronics facility in Waterloo, Ontario.

"I am delighted to see this recognition of Teledyne DALSA along with the other runners up in the award process,” said H.E. Mr. Lambert during the ceremony. “This year, the awards were adjudicated on the basis of Innovation which fits well into our "Design for the Future" initiative with the Dutch government to renew and expand our traditional bilateral relationship.  I have visited facilities in Eindhoven and seen firsthand what a truly innovative global company Teledyne DALSA is. We are proud that it has grown from its Waterloo base to become a leading example of global leadership in imaging and semiconductors which is at home in the Netherlands as it is in Canada."

“The Netherlands Canadian Chamber of Commerce is committed to supporting business growth so it is naturally important for us to support innovation and think strategically about how we can capitalize on each other strengths and collaborate in discovering new frontiers together. Teledyne DALSA symbolises the importance of globalisation and innovation which supports business growth in both countries" observed Joost Hasperhoven, Chairman of NCCC.

“We are delighted and humbled to accept this honor,” commented Dr. Edwin Roks, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Teledyne DALSA’s Eindhoven operations, who accepted the award on behalf of Teledyne DALSA. “None of our innovation happens in isolation. The collaboration between our groups in Canada and in The Netherlands is extremely important for us. I would like to thank the embassy and the NCCC for their role in facilitating transatlantic cooperation, and we will strive to continue this valuable, productive relationship.”
