The Icon™ camera series gives vision system developers unprecedented power and flexibility to develop their own embedded imaging applications. Combining Teledyne DALSA's expertise in image sensors, cameras and image processing with off-the-shelf development tools and libraries, Icon brings a powerful, familiar application development environment and extensive set of imaging libraries to allow developers and OEMs to create and deliver cost effective, customized embedded vision system applications.
Icon begins with high quality image sensors and an extensive camera feature set. But Icon is more than a camera—it is an embedded vision system platform offering control of the hardware and image data to developers through Sapera Embedded Vision SDK, a suite of embedded image acquisition, processing, analysis and control libraries using conventional programming languages like C/C++. The Sapera Embedded Vision SDK package also features powerful tools, making it easier to configure, develop, debug and deploy vision applications.
Sensor & Lens Features

- 1024 x 768 pixels, Monochrome or Color, up to 22 images per second
- Image capture control through external or software trigger for deterministic response
- Supports standard CS/C-mount lenses
- Integrated strobe control and illumination power supply
Camera Setup and Control
Camera Configuration Utility - Teledyne DALSA's powerful CamExpert is a graphical user interface that provides an interactive environment to create or modify camera configurations files. Icon camera parameters can be fine tuned while grabbing live images on the host computer. In addition, CamExpert's intuitive interface allows users to explore and reconfigure camera control signals.
Powerful Hardware Platform

The Icon's multiple processing engines have the benefit of partitioning tasks efficiently: application management via CPU, algorithm optimization via NEON instruction set and DSP and sensor management via FPGA.
- 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 and C64x+ DSP processors for powerful real-time processing capability combined with extremely low power consumption
- 256 MB program memory, 256 MB storage memory
- Ultra small form factor (44 x 44 x 44 mm), ideal for space-limited applications
- Mounting holes on all sides for maximum flexibility
- Industrial M12 style connectors offer flexible low-cost cabling options
Develop, Deploy, Debug with Embedded Processing Libraries and Development Environment
- The Icon series offers an open platform to develop embedded applications for Icon cameras using the familiar off-the-shelf development tools like Microsoft® Visual Studio™ targetting Microsoft Windows CE operating system.
- With built-in support for the processor platform, the Icon applications can be debugged and traced using Visual Studio's remote Ethernet tools.
- Familiar development/debugging platform mean substantial reduction in application development time.
- Embedded application development using Sapera Processing or third party image processing libraries.

Versatile Sapera Vision Software
- Icon cameras are fully supported by Sapera Embedded Vision SDK, a suite of embedded image acquisition, processing, analysis and control libraries.
- Sapera Processing, bundled as part of the Sapera Embedded Vision SDK, features highly optimized image processing primitives, Barcode, OCR, blob analysis, area and geometric search and calibration tools.
- The Sapera Embedded Vision SDK package also features powerful yet easy to use setup and configuration tools to speed up deployment and maintenance tasks.
- Additionally, all Icon cameras come pre-licensed to run the entire suite of Embedded Sapera Processing.
