As part of our continuing growth, Teledyne DALSA is recruiting for a Mechanical Designer.

We are currently seeking a highly talented and motivated individual to bring mechanical design expertise to the Scanning Products business line. As a successful candidate for this role, you thrive on creating innovative solutions to challenging technical problems; are driven, organized and detail oriented; constantly engaged in absorbing new knowledge; communicate with ease within a multi-disciplinary team, both local and remote, and are adept at removing roadblocks and facilitating action. You will use your skills and initiative in the development of novel, leading-edge imaging products as well as optical, opto-mechanical and integrated imaging systems. Be a part of applications that improve quality of life, like food inspection, guiding surgical tools, and preserving our environment through automation of consumer recycling systems.    

You will provide mechanical design skills to the Product and Advanced Development teams within Teledyne DALSA.  Your projects will consistently push the limits of technology to increase performance, enable new applications or reduce system cost.  You will ensure the successful launch of world-class products which meet stated quality, cost, schedule and customer experience goals. 

Reporting to the product development team leader, your primary responsibilities will consist of the following:

  • Envision, simulate, experiment with, promote and design novel solutions for a variety of optical, thermal, mechanical and usability challenges in new CMOS imaging sensor, camera and system products
  • Rationalize input from customers, vendors, peers and experienced team leads into focused and achievable objectives
  • Develop and validate product designs which meet stated performance, cost, reliability, ease of manufacture and usability objectives
  • Design, prototype and evaluate product assemblies and test systems used for research, for application support and for the development and manufacture of products
  • Conceive, evaluate and automate novel test system solutions to serve internal use and customer needs

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or physics with 3+ years of experience
  • Outstanding technical and analytical skills.  Demonstrated ability to solve challenging process and product related problems using a structured approach
  • Strong team player with good networking/relational skills
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical engineering design and simulation tools such as 3D CAD, Matlab, Flowtherm, etc. Strong appreciation of design of experiment tools and other statistics based improvement methods.
  • Strong planning, written and verbal communication skills

Assets :

  • Progressive experience in electro-optic product or systems design 
  • Detailed knowledge of cleanroom electronics manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Experience with design of automated equipment using PLC control
