DALSA announced today the release of its revolutionary Piranha3 series, the next generation of its flagship Piranha line scan cameras. Based on DALSA's own groundbreaking sensor design, the Piranha3 series introduces the next level in line scan technology with the world's highest resolutions and highest speeds. Boasting 8k and 12k resolutions, with line rates of up to 33kHz and 23kHz, Piranha3 cameras target the throughput demands of next generation flat panel display and electronics manufacturing inspection. These innovative cameras demonstrate DALSA's ability to consistently anticipate customer needs and drive new technology. Both resolutions of the Piranha3 series will be available for volume orders in May 2005.
"We're pleased that production is in full gear and that we have the capacity to fulfill large volume orders," commented David Cochrane, DALSA Director of Product Management and Marketing, Vision for Machines.
The Piranha3 series' 320MHz throughput allows users to inspect more material in less time. The Piranha3 12k surpasses the resolution of any other line scan camera, delivering more detail with fewer cameras in a multi-camera system for measurable cost savings. Additional system cost savings stem from the Piranha3 series' superior sensor alignment accuracy and high responsivity which minimize the cost of optics. A Camera Link® interface ensures easy integration of the Piranha3 cameras into existing systems.
"For mass production of flat panel displays and printed circuit boards, cost control is key. The speed and resolution of Piranha3 cameras save time and help reduce costs," added Mr. Cochrane.
Customers can look forward to a preview of Piranha3 camera technology in a live demonstration at the Image Sensing Exhibition show, June 8-10, Yokohama, Japan.
