DALSA to Supply Custom Image Sensor Chips to Imaging Dynamics

Posted 8/4/2005

DALSA Corporation (TSX:DSA), an international high performance semiconductor and electronics company, today announced it has received a major contract from Imaging Dynamics Company Limited ("IDC") (TSXV: IDL), a leading provider of digital radiography systems. Under the terms of the contract DALSA will develop a custom CCD image sensor chip and provide volume production over a period of 30 months. Deliveries to IDC are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2005. The contract is valued at CDN $5.1 million.

The DALSA image sensor chips will be "the eyes" of IDC's new XaminerTM line of digital x-ray detectors, which uses digital imaging technology to replace traditional film in general radiography imaging applications. The Xaminer line is specifically designed for large, cost sensitive markets such as China, India, and Brazil that require the high patient throughput of digital radiography, with competitive levels of image quality and dose efficiency.

"I am very pleased that DALSA will be supplying image sensor chips to IDC. This contract is yet another excellent example of how leadership in technology enables Canadian companies to successfully expand into new world markets," commented Savvas Chamberlain, CEO of DALSA Corporation.

"We are pleased to be partnering with another Canadian company on this truly global initiative," said Darryl Stein, IDC's President and CEO. "DALSA's technology has some phenomenal features and we are excited to employ this chip into our Xaminer series."
